Radio Pledges = Fruit Trees Planted
Thanks to our friends at Shook, Hardy & Bacon, when you pledge your support to 90.9 The Bridge on September 16, 2022, you will also plant fruit trees!
The Giving Grove supports neighborhood volunteers in planting and caring for fruit trees, nut trees, and berry brambles that improve the urban environment, increase tree canopy and provide a sustainable source of free, organically-grown food for neighborhoods facing high rates of food insecurity.
We are excited to partner with 90.9 The Bridge on September 16, 2022, for their Give Back Friday! 90.9 The Bridge is a listener-supported radio station located in Kansas City. Every dollar invested in the station goes right back into the community. The Bridge supports local artists and independent venues, giving underrepresented voices the opportunity to be heard. Be sure to tune in on Sept. 16 to learn how your generous support will not only power exceptional, independent music but impact the lives of our neighbors facing high levels of food insecurity—something that should concern all of us.
When you donate trees, berry brambles, or orchards with The Giving Grove, you are helping communities:
Create Food Sovereignty
With the support of Giving Grove horticultural expertise, communities choose their own selection of nutritious fruits, berries and nuts for their neighborhood.
Create Equitable Placemaking
Greenspace should be equitable and sustainable. When efforts are tied to a longer-term vision, residents are more likely to become engaged and feel a sense of ownership.
Reestablish Greenspace
In urban areas, fruit trees improve the microclimate, retain and regenerate soil, manage stormwater run-off, and provide a habitat for biodiversity.
