Children Plant Fruit Tree with Dirty Hands

Welcome to The Giving Grove!

The Giving Grove’s mission is to provide healthy calories, strengthen community, and improve the urban environment through a nationwide network of sustainable little orchards.

Little Orchards.

The Giving Grove program supports neighborhood volunteers in planting and caring for fruit trees, nut trees and berry brambles that improve the urban environment, increase tree canopy and provide a sustainable source of free, healthy food for neighborhoods facing high rates of food insecurity.

Big Impact.

The Giving Grove network has more than 400 orchards across the U.S. with the potential to grow nearly 3 million servings of free, fresh food annually while re-invigorating urban green spaces from coast to coast.

Power in Numbers.

ReTreeUS joins The Giving Grove’s extensive network of urban agriculture organizations hosting community orcharding programs. From Atlanta to Seattle, Giving Grove orchards are making a BIG IMPACT on food sovereignty and equitable greenspace in over 400 communities.

Meet our New England Partner: ReTreeUS

The mission of ReTreeUS is to promote an environmentally sustainable, socially just food system through education, practical resources, and mentorship.

In 2012, ReTreeUS began planting educational orchards in schools and with partner nonprofits. Since then, the organization has planted over 70 school and community orchards throughout Maine, Massachusetts, Vermont, and New Hampshire, as well as developing and delivering educational programming, signage, and workshops. Each orchard serves as an engaging outdoor classroom.

“This affiliation enables us to expand our organizational capacity, resulting in more fruit and nut trees planted, improved programming, and more seeds of thought germinated to empower generations of healthy environmental stewards,” said Richard Hodges, ReTreeUS Program Manager and founder.  “We are delighted to be part of a network that shares resources and best practices around community orchards, amplifying our organizations’ positive impact nationwide.”
